I would like to schedule an appointment. What are the next steps?

At this time, we offer a complimentary 15-Minute Discovery Call with the belief that families should have the opportunity to get to know our practice and see if we are the right fit for your family’s needs! We would be more than happy to add you to the waitlist upon completion of the call. However, if you are comfortable forgoing the Discovery Call and would like to be placed on our "Wait List" for the next available in-person evaluation opening, please email info@nurturinglift.com.

After our call, we will provide you with a booking link for the respective service requested. A non-refundable deposit of $75.00 is required at the time of booking, which will go towards the remaining balance.

We understand the time-sensitive nature of many families’ inquiries and situations, so we will try to be as accommodating as we can be to get you a timely appointment.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for our first session?

For home visits, please try to go about your little one’s and/or your usual schedule. No need delay any feeding or keep little one up. The first evaluation will usually be over a duration of time that encompasses multiple aspects of assessment. It is ok (and expected) that your little one sleeps at least one point in the session. As cold and Flu (and RSV) season is upon us, your little one’s safety is a top concern. I am happy to wear a mask in addition to the standard universal precautions I take for every family. Please note that your appointment time is estimated and can vary depending on traffic patterns/travel times/ etc.

For office visits, please try to go about your little one’s and/or your usual schedule prior to arriving at the office. You are encouraged to bring any current infant feeding items:

  • Bottles/pacifiers/nipple shields/etc.

  • Human milk and/or infant formula

Upon arrival in the lobby, please text our number to let us know- I will come out to meet you. As cold and Flu (and RSV) season is upon us, your little one’s safety is a top concern. I am happy to wear a mask in addition to the standard universal precautions I take for every family. At this time, while support is encouraged and welcome, I ask that you limit it to one additional person. If you would like to request an exception, please notify me at least 24 hours prior to session.

How many sessions will we need to see you?

Since every family has their own dynamics, goals, and difficulties, there's no set number of sessions. An average range for families can be four to six sessions- some families get there in less, some in more. Upon having our Discovery Call, we will have a better idea of what range your length of care may be and will always communicate that to you. Our goal for your family is to meet you where your family is at and create a doable plan that helps you reach your goals and “ride off into the sunset" with the feeling of success.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance at this time. Since I am not dictated by insurance - whose reimbursement rates typically limit the care I can provide, i.e. only X amount of visits covered, x minutes in a session, etc.- our entire session is dedicated to you and your little one. At your request, what I can provide for you at the conclusion of our session(s) is a Superbill that you are able to submit to your respective insurance company for reimbursement. Some families choose to reach out to their insurance company to receive pre-authorization of our visits- either as lactation or occupational therapy. Others have requested an occupational therapy prescription request from their infant’s pediatrician which they then submit to insurance to help increase the likelihood of reimbursement. At this time, we offer a complimentary OT prescription form faxed to your pediatrician’s office in an effort to maximize.

Under the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies are mandated to cover lactation support. For For more information, please visit the National Women’s Law Center .

For WIC, Medicaid, or families experiencing financial hardship, please contact us.

“Do I need a full feeding evaluation? I just want to see if my baby has [tongue/lip/cheek] ties.”

The short answer is YES. As an occupational therapist who specializes in infant feeding, my primary focus is on function when it comes to our activities of daily living. For infants, the main activities include feeding, play, and sleep.

Oral ties go beyond a simple structural check, and are assessed in the lens of how is function being impacted. Oftentimes, families come into my office and explain how they’ve been told that many of their functional issues are “normal” and “par for the course”. As we peel back the layers, we find compensatory skills- disguised as “my baby isn’t having any feeding issues"- are, in fact, not reflective of optimal feeding and development skills.

Therefore, a comprehensive assessment for baby includes head-to-toe examination, with specialized focus on feeding and play. For additional questions, please feel free to email us at info@nurturinglift.com

“Is there a rescheduling/cancellation fee?”

We understand that life happens- especially with those pesky colds and illnesses. Our current cancellation/rescheduling policy is to notify us at least 24 hours in advance and we’d be happy to reschedule you, with your non-refundable deposit of $75.00 going towards the balance of your next appointment. For cancellations less than 24 hours in advance, there is a $75.00 cancellation fee as that appointment time will not be able to get filled, especially for families on a wait list for the next available opening. Thank you for your understanding.
